By it's simplest definition, "Income Planning" can
be broken down into three general areas: Personal
Financial Goals (both Short-Term and Long-Term), Income and
Asset Protection Strategies, and Estate Preservation/Legacy
Development. Regardless
of your area (or areas) of need, we always follow this same,
three-step process
to determine where we need to start.
First, we start by identifying your current saving and spending
habits by completing a confidential financial needs profile.
This usually takes very little time, but this step is absolutely
crucial. It helps us identify what
your money is doing for you right now, because in order to get your money
to work better for you in the future, WE MUST KNOW what your
money is doing for you today.
How protected is your money
from future losses? Is your money growing faster than
inflation? Are you over-paying in taxes year after year? Are there taxable consequences with your money...
especially when looking at your long-term income plans?
The answers to these questions are vitally important in
developing your proper income
planning strategy.
Second, based on
our discussions in Step #1, we talk about which goals are
important to you. Things like:
-
Do we need to
work on techniques to free-up income, or do you already have
a positive cash flow?
-
How important
is long-term income planning (college funding, financial
independence planning, etc)?
-
Is reducing
your taxable income, specifically in your later years,
important to you?
-
Is your family
and/or estate protected financially from unseen events (ie.
death, disability, tax increases, etc)
-
Are you looking
for strategies to reduce and/or eliminate debt...
without any consolidating or refinancing?
Lastly, after
we review your current income situation, and determine which
goals are most important to you, we then develop your own personalized
plan of attack. Something where we can conquer your
goals, one-at-a-time, based strictly on your individual needs...
We then follow this plan until all of
your goals (and dreams) have been met!
The bottom line is that this process is
not
difficult, but it does take some degree of dedication. Whatever
financial roadblocks are in your way, they will not fix
themselves. It's up to you to take the initiative, and
time becomes a crucial ally in conquering your goals... Just look how
valuable time becomes
when your financial freedom is at stake!
